Good Fortune" is a 2009 documentary film directed by Landon Van Soest. The film explores the impact of massive international efforts to alleviate poverty in Africa, specifically focusing on the poorest areas of Kenya. Through intimate portraits of three individuals, the documentary examines how these efforts may unintentionally undermine the very communities they aim to benefit 

One of the stories depicted in the film involves individuals being relocated to temporary housing while new and improved homes are being built by the government and the United Nations. However, there is skepticism among the community members due to a previous incident where a government official's wife took the project for herself, leaving the poor with nothing
